During August & September Viv
& I were in UK.
While searching on the web forThamedown Community Dance Course I found
Link Magazine based in Swindon and asked the Editor, Roger Ogle, for some
contact details. He was very helpful and surprised to hear from someone
in Zimbabwe
as Imbongi Dance Company led by Albert
Nyathi had just been to Swindon
to perform in a local festival. Thamesdown Dance is now called Swindon
Dance and is very much alive and well.
Roger spoke with the Mayor of Swindon, Dave Cox, who expressed a great
interest in developing stronger cultural ties between Swindon & Harare.
He
invited us to meet him in September. At the meeting we were introduced
to
representatives and coordinators of various arts activities in the Swindon
Area. The Swindon Book Fair, Film Festival, Multicultural Education,
Dance & Festival. Conversations were around possible links for events
next year and concern for artists in the current tense climate in Zimbabwe.
Twin Arts has contacts in paticular areas, do get in
touch with us for more information.
