REPS THEATRE - Harare

Reps Theatre is celebrated it's 70th anniversary in 2001. It can be found at 2nd Street extension Shopping centre, 7kms north of the centre of Harare. It is a fully equipped Theatre seats 450 people, with excellent lighting & sound facilities. Reps is available for hire and stages an average of 5 major productions each year some running for up to 3 weeks with an entirely amatuer cast. This year has seen productions of " 'allo, 'allo!", "STAGEFRITE.!" and "Wish Upon A Star". Forthcoming productions are to be "Queen, almost" and "Absolutely Fabulous".

Reps was founded as a Theatre Club and has a Members Bar. It has the THEATRE UPSTAIRS an intimate small stage, which can seat 50 people. Many of the early performances by Over the Edge were in this theatre. At the back in the Office block there is the Costume Hire Dept (open to members of the public during weekdays) and the Adrian Stanley Studio and theatre workshops. This next to the Repteens Room.

The Adrian Stanley Studio has been mostly used as a rehearsal room for works on Reps Main Stage. Recently, it has been refurbished so that it can be rigged for productions of performances needing a large stage area but seating only 100 people.
