"Opening night went well, a fun
show with a lot of variety. Nicole Hill
brings with her the whole aura of an American Broadway Christmas Song
show with songs such as "Santa Baby", "Have Yourself a Merry
Christmas"
and in "Chestnuts Roasting" she is joined by Wiina in a cosy &
surprisingly
good Nat King Cole style duet. The show includes typical OTE skits such
as Duck Capers featuring Wiina in full detective mode about a murder at
Dandara.
Gavin Peters & Zane E Lucas get loads of chances, throughout the
show, to compete as Miss Arcadia 2001 especially in Limpopolink & Big
Brother Zimbabwe (just ending in it's 21st year..!!), Adam Niell has an
hilarious moment as a farmer who has just paid $300 to see a show at
Reps and cannot understand why fire engulfing the theatre should stop
the performance.
Chipo Chung is gorgeous as the manipulative and calculating Mellissa in
LimpopoLink determined to use her brains, not her body to remain in the game
... after all she stands to win 50Billion Zim Dollars!!
There's a great rendition of "Gramma Got Run Over by a Reindeer"
and
Ivor Mclaren's "Prison of Simpletons" with Craig Peters as the Jailer
briefly brings in some gallows humour.
But the show begins and ends with a memorable "12 Days of Christmas in
Zimbabwe"
