WINNIE THE POOH @ REPS THEATRE 2nd Street Extn
THURS 30th NOVEMBER - 21st DECEMBER 2000
"WINNIE THE POOH", directed by DAWN PARKINSON.

reviewed by Claire Meriwether

Last Friday night I saw the production, "Winnie the Pooh", at the
Reps Theater in Avondale. The actors were very good, although it was
sometimes difficult to hear all the lines. I was sitting near the
front so I imagine it was harder to hear at the back of the theater.
I especially liked the character of Tigger. The actor who played him
certainly had a lot of energy. If you have read any of the Winnie
the Pooh stories by A.A. Milne, you will recognize them in this
performance. It starts out with Pooh and the Honey Tree, when Pooh
pretends that he is a little black rain cloud in order to fool the
bees so he can steal their honey. The actor who plays Pooh is strung
up on a wire when he is pretending to be the cloud. He is supposed to
be floating with a balloon. When I saw the play, Pooh knocked over a
mushroom, one of the stage props, when his balloon popped and he fell
to the ground. The play ends with a party for Pooh to celebrate his
saving Eyeore from drowning in the river. Children of all ages will
like this play.
