| Richard
Di Rosa was born in 1963. He lives and works in Paris and in Sète, his home town. In 1981, Figuration Libre propelled him onto the art scene along with his brother Hervé. His first one man show in Tokyo in 1987 was the start of a limitless journey, exploring the universal appeal of the plasticity of visual language. Still lifes, bunches of flowers, trophies of comic features, skeletons from a natural history museum, smiling monsters, a heron with its long neck joined to a long beak, a magician reminiscent of the fairy Carabosse... Di Rosas work takes material from the myths and fables of childhood. Sculptures that remind us of the concept and of the age of apprenticeship, actors in a kind of theatre of nations unhindered by any barrier, language or form, suggesting a childlike innocence & humour readily accessible to culturally diverse viewers. |
