| Harare
has an excellent climate and so Zimbabweans tend to be great gardeners.
We also have an exceptionally wide variety of indigenous flora. We have thus benefited from the use of a vast variety of plant material, many Zimbabweans have wonderful homes and gardens. In the 1980s Zimbabwe enjoyed a high level of prosperity and peerless intercultural relations. Now there is a degree of strain. The economic situation is wrecking a hundred years of development, we had built up in a very few years a thriving export market in cut flowers mainly to Europe but also to other continents. The horticultural industry is still afloat, but only just. Likewise, floral art in this country is suffering from the pressures afflicting our nation. Although no really large
floral art show takes place in Zimbabwe any more, Zimbabweans participate
